Gorham - College Manor

Welcome to the neighbourhood of Gorham | College Manor, named after Dr. Gorham who owned the land from Garbott Hill, now known as Prospect Street to Bogarttown, on the south side of Gorham. He built a large brick house on Garbott hill overlooking the popular and beloved Fairy Lake. Neighbouring Main Street which was constructed between 1914 and 1915 with a major addition built in 1956 and has grown exponentially since then. This area is also home to the highly respected and internationally esteemed private school, Pickering College that has held a prominent place in this community since 1909.

Gorham College Manor is a perfect neighbourhood for commuters with Davis Drive on-ramp for Highway 404 just moments away. Neighbourhood landmarks include: Southlake Regional Health Centre, Pickering College, Newmarket High School, Scared Heart Catholic School, College Manor Park, Fairgrounds Park, Bogart Pond and the ubiquitous East Holland River.

College Manor Park is a large neighbourhood greenspace with a soccer field and baseball diamond. Fairgrounds Park located at Timothy Street and Pine Street has three baseball diamonds and a sports field. Adjacent to the park at 220 Muriel Street is the York Curling Club. The Gorman Pool located on D’Arcy Street is an outdoor heated pool and a popular summertime neighbourhood destination for residents.
