Aurora

Aurora is located within the Golden Horseshoe of southern Ontario.

Welcome to Aurora

Aurora was founded in 1854 and incorporated as a town in 1888. The first merchant was Richard Machell, when in 1804, he opened his business at Yonge and Wellington, which became known as Machell's Corners.

Located only 15 minutes from Newmarket with easy access to highway 404 leading to all major arteries. This affluent area of York Region is known for its luxurious stone mansions, gated communities such as Beacon Hall and prestigious Kennedy Street West which rivals the grandeur of well known Forest Hill in Toronto. Homes with acreage and opulence can be found in the neighbourhood of Aurora Village where one can enjoy a short walk to quaint downtown, offering a plethora of boutique shops, restaurants and local businesses and a short distance to the GO station for commuters. Home to the finest public and private schools such as St. Andrew's College and the new addition of St. Anne's Preparatory School for Girls. With a population of approximately 398,000 (2022) and growing, Aurora is made up of 10 major urban centres; Aurora Village, Aurora Estates, Aurora Grove, Aurora Heights, Aurora Highlands, Bayview Wellington, Bayview North & Southeast, Hills of St. Andrews and rural Aurora.
